Setting goals and making your New Year’s Resolution stick!
Remember, get started at an Anytime Fitness before January 31st & pay zero enrollment fee!!
• Choose an obtainable goal. Resolving to look like a super model is not realistic (most of them are too skinny anyways) but promising to include some sort of daily activity is. Rather than one big goal, try setting smaller ones.
• Avoid choosing a resolution that you’ve been unsuccessful at achieving year after year. This will only set you up for failure, frustration and expensive therapy sessions. If you are tempted to make a promise you’ve made before, alter it. Instead of stating you are going to lose 10 pounds, try promising to visit the gym (find the closest Anytime Fitness) 10 times in the month of January.
• Create a reasonable game plan. Don’t try to bite off more than you can chew (literally). It isn’t realistic to try to workout 7 days a week (I don’t even try to do that and I get paid for it). Try making it 3-4 times each week & be consistent.
• Get support. Since it is more fun & encouraging to work out with a partner, try recruiting friends and family to work out with you.
• Don’t go it alone! Get professional assistance. Everyone needs help and sometimes a friend just isn’t enough. Sometimes you need the help of a trained professional. Research studies have shown that assistance from a fitness professional greatly improves people’s success rate. Make sure you utilize the fitness professionals in your facility. If you don’t have access to any feel free to email me with questions ZamzowFitness@hotmail.com.
And finally, make sure you reward yourself with each milestone. If you’ve stuck with your resolution for 2 months, treat yourself to something special (I know that Terri likes beer).
In good health!
